Description
This AM symposium aims to provide a discussion forum for both fundamental aspects and practical applications of additively manufactured components with particular interests about their structural integrity. The need for this arises from the fact that AM is moving into the production of heavily-loaded safety-critical components and improved understanding and predictive models for material performance are essential.
The AM symposium consists of 4 topical themes: (i) Fatigue and fracture, (ii) Microstructure, deformation and damage; (iii) Process and property; (iv) Design and quality assurance. Keynote speakers for each theme will be announced.
Contributions in the following topic areas are encouraged:
- Fatigue and fracture
- Microstructure-property predictive models
- Multi-scale process modelling
- Defects and mitigation strategy
- Process optimisation for property enhancement
- Feedstock and related issues
- In situ process monitoring
- Rapid solidification and nonequilibrium microstructure
- Alloy design for AM
- Life prediction and structural integrity
- Non-destructive inspection
- Standardisation and quality assurance
